Art Settings

I just uploaded my latest drawing (of my hand) to DeviantArt. Make sure to check it out.

When I upload a piece of artwork, I have two poles to contend with. I want to provide as much detail as possible (since the effort goes into the detail). However, I do not want copyright thieves to be able to claim it as their own. My middle ground is:

  1. The image is shrunk so all sides are 1000 pixels or less. This limits the resolution to no more than 1 megapixel. At this size, the image will look pixelated if it is scaled up (e.g., for printing).

  2. The JPEG quality factor is set to 50 out of 100. Based on my experiments, 50 is where casual observation cannot differentiate between the original and the compressed. However, it does create very minor artifacts.

As a result, I can show off my artwork, while still being able to prove ownership.
